Contact Us

CWA Local 4202 is asking for your support.  Cingular Wireless/AT&T Mobility has emailed our membership in the RNOC and Tier II departments, housed at 930 National Parkway, Schaumburg IL, that somewhere between June and September 1, 2007 their job duties will moved to other locations.  The RNOC & Tier II jobs are advanced technical positions.  There are approximately 70 non-management employees that will be losing their jobs.  The members in this department have between 5 - 20 years seniority.

This work is going to Bothell,WA and Atlanta,GA locations. These locations are non-union positions!  CWA Local 4202 believes that we need to support our membership and be proactive and try to save these jobs while we have a little time to work with. Not when it is to late and the surplus is "officially declared".

We are also asking that you contact the following individuals at Cingular Wireless/AT&T Mobility.  Please let Cingular Wireless/AT&T Mobility that you want these jobs to stay in Illinois.

WE WANT THESE JOBS TO STAY IN ILLINOIS AS BARGAINED FOR JOBS!!!!

CWA has created a funny little video called "Chained to My PC," which is an animated parody of the kind of treatment being experienced by thousands of customer care and other workers who are literally "chained" to their PCs. To help spread our message to these workers – and to persuade them to visit and contact CWA online – we posted our video on YouTube.com, one of the hottest websites on the Internet.

Please help spread our message to unrepresented workers around the country by doing the following:

1.  Visit the YouTube address at the bottom of this message and watch "Chained to My PC"

2.  At the end of the video, click the "Share" button and forward the video to your friends and colleagues. Just to make sure that our video doesn't get snagged as "Spam" by your friends' computers, please also email our video's Youtube address to your friends by copying it and pasting the link into the body of a regular email.

3.  Rate our video! If "Chained to My PC" gets high ratings from you and other activists, word will spread about our video and our message. But first, "Sign Up" and register: it's the only way you can rate our video on YouTube (it's free).

4.  Finally, if you have a blog or website of your own, copy the HTML code from the YouTube page into your page -- and show the video right on your own website!

5. Help us spread the word about the benefits of union representation in CWA. Please watch and rate "Chained to My PC" today by clicking on this link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=imaYc3RNanE

P.S. Our video is also located on CWA's server at www.chainedtomypc.com but please be sure to first view it and rate it on YouTube.com!

IN SEARCH OF JOB

The Free Press, Kerville, Texas

Joe Smith started his day early, having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m.  While his coffee pot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).  He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE), and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA), he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today.  After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA), he got into his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

At the end of another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while.  He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL), poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can’t find a good paying job...in AMERICA

Your Benefits Weren't A Gift

The advantages you enjoy as a union member - a guaranteed wage rate, protection against unfair treatment, paid vacations and holidays, health and wealth benefits and a pension plan were not gifts from management.

Your employer may try to give you the idea that your pay and benefits are the result of management generosity (a contradiction in terms).  Don't be fooled.

CWA members have struggled long and hard to achieve what we have today.  Sometimes they have been forced to strike - meaning weeks of hardship for themselves and their families - to gain the things you now enjoy.

YOUR EMPLOYER HAS NEVER AGREED TO ANYTHING OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF ITS HEART!

IT'S THE UNION, NOT YOUR EMPLOYER, who is responsible for what you have today.  It's the union, with your support that will be responsible for all the gains you make in the future.
